George Morfogen and Jim Stanek will star as Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis, respectively, in Freud's Last Session beginning March 16 at off-Broadway's New World Stages. The duo will replace original cast members Mark H. Dold and Martin Rayner, who will star in the upcoming Chicago production at the Mercury Theatre, which opens on March 21.
Morfogen has appeared on Broadway in A Man For All Seasons, Fortune’s Fool, An Inspector Calls, Arms and the Man, Kingdoms and John Gabriel Borkman. His film and TV credits include Oz, V, What’s Up Doc? and Twenty Bucks. Stanek has appeared on Broadway in Indiscretions, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Rivals, Little Women, Lestat and The Story of My Life. His film and TV credits include Bella, Borough of Kings, Adversaries and Mary and Rhoda.
Written by Mark St. Germain, Freud’s Last Session opened off-Broadway at Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre on July 22, 2010, and transferred to New World Stages in October 2011. The drama tells the story of an imagined meeting between psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and author and professor C.S. Lewis. Set in Freud’s office in England during World War II, the two legends discuss religion, the meaning of life and more.
